<--RETURN TO PHOTO INDEXPuerto Madryn & Península Valdézlocated in Chubut province in Argentine Patagonia
Soon after I returned from Iguazú Falls, I started on another package trip, to be my last after I realized all the possibilities of planning it on your own. The first stop on this journey was Puerto Madryn in Patagonia, where we had access to the impressive nature reserve, Península Valdéz. However, the port town itself was quite impressive--the water an incredible blue, the inhabitants friendly and kind, access to nature easy and free. The first day we walked along the coast to a nature observatory. On the second day, we began the long trip to the peninsula, first going on a whale-watching expedition, then driving kilometers after kilometers to reach viewpoints for sea lions and sea otters. The impressive thing about this nature reserve is that it not very commercialized due to its inaccessibility. Despite the repetitive expanses on the drives between lookouts, it is an amazing experience. We luckily traveled at the season where you can see both penguins and whales--so enjoy the photos of them! :) (18 photos) |
